Target Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brian Cornell received The Visionary award from the National Retail Federation at the NRF Foundation Honors on April 13 in New York City.

Cornell was presented with the award – which honors an individual who has served the retail industry with distinction throughout their career – by celebrity guest Earvin “Magic” Johnson. NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay introduced Johnson, who delivered remarks onstage.

In accepting the award, Cornell expressed gratitude to the Target team, his family and former colleagues, and discussed the outsized impact of the retail industry on the economy and communities.

In addition to recognizing The Visionary, the event celebrated The List of People Shaping Retail’s Future, a community partner making an impact with the NRF Foundation’s retail skills training program and the recipients of the NRF Foundation’s undergraduate scholarships.

The event was co-hosted by Macy’s, Inc. Chairman and CEO Jeff Gennette and former Qurate Retail, Inc. President and CEO Mike George. It drew more than 600 attendees to the Marriott Marquis Times Square and raised $3.22 million for the NRF Foundation’s programs and resources.
